​Numerous 4th of July events are held throughout the area. Most events are family friendly and include live entertainment.

Washington DC is a spectacular place to celebrate our Nation’s birthday. Begin the evening with A Capitol 4thConcert on the West lawn of the U.S. Capitol. Time: 8 - 9:30 p.m. (Admittance  begins at 3 p.m.) A 4th of July tradition in the nation's capital  includes a live concert by the National Symphony Orchestra and several  pop artists performing patriotic music on the West Lawn of the U.S.  Capitol Building. The concert and show is followed by a spectacular  display of fireworks over the Washington Monument. The concert is free  and open to the public. No tickets are necessary. Fireworks on the National Mall begin at approximately 9:15. The fireworks are launched from the  Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and light up the sky over the  Washington Monument.

If you would rather stay closer to home, Montgomery County has several great options.

MID COUNTY SPARKLES
Albert Einstein High School, 11135 Newport Road, Kensington, Maryland.
This  event kicks off with a concert by Gringo Jingo performing Santana cover  songs at 7:30 p.m. and the fireworks show begins at 9:15 p.m. The  county-sponsored show allows visitors to bring low lawn chairs, blankets  and coolers—although alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Food  vendors will be on site. The county is offering a free shuttle available  only from Westfield Wheaton North Plaza parking lot beginning at 6:15  p.m.

GERMANTOWN GLORY
South Germantown Recreational Park
This  county-sponsored fireworks show starts at 7 p.m. with a performance by  Quiet Fire, a soul band that covers hits from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s.  The fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. Those attending can bring low lawn  chairs, coolers and blankets, but alcohol is prohibited. Free parking is  available.

FIREWORKS IN ROCKVILLE
Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park, 1800 Piccard Dr. Rockville, Maryland.
The  city of Rockville will host its July 4 celebration at Mattie J.T.  Stepanek Park in King Farm. Music begins at 6 p.m. with the Rockville  Concert Band. The fireworks display will commence at 9:15 p.m. Guests  are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, food and drinks. No  barbecuing or open flames are allowed.
